Slightly more than a year after the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin County Highway Association announced the Low-Risk Bridge Pilot Program, half of the 16 program bridges have been replaced or will be this year. The pilot program has resulted in expedited project delivery and reduced costs.
Wisconsin receives its first designated national bike routes – USBR 30 and USBR 230. This corridor from Milwaukee to Bluff Siding on the Mississippi River will draw local, regional, and national cyclists to communities along the trail and positively impact Wisconsin’s economy.
The WIS 116 river crossing is a critical link in a growing region of the state, connecting area residents to Oshkosh and the Fox Valley via U.S. 45 and U.S. 41. The crossing is integral to those living in the Winneconne area because it provides access to employment, educational facilities, retail, health care providers, recreation, and supports local businesses and trucking access.
